LABELLED RENAULT ECO²

Renault is reasserting its commitment to market a range of ecological and economical vehicles with the Renault eco² label:

- Ecological, by measurable results in all phases of the vehicle life cycle.
- Economical, through low fuel consumption and affordable technology.

The following are just some of the vehicles that carry the Renault eco² signature.

Twingo dCi 85

Production: Twingo is manufactured at the Novo Mesto plant (Slovenia), which obtained ISO 14001 certification in 1999.

CO2 emissions: Twingo is now available with the dCi 85 engine. It joins the range alongside the dCi 65, delivering additional power (+20hp/15kW) and torque (200Nm, up 40Nm), yet CO2 emissions are a mere 94g/km.

Recycling: Twingo contains 9% recycled plastic (15 kilos) and is 95% recoverable by mass at end of life.

Clio dCi 85

Production: Clio is manufactured both at the Flins (France) and Bursa (Turkey) plants. The first obtained ISO 14001 certification in 2000, while the second in 1999.

CO2 emissions: Clio is available with a dCi 85 engine emitting only 98g of CO2/km. This result is also obtained by enhanced aerodynamic efficiency (specific spoiler) and reduced rolling resistance.

Petrol engines also provide good performances. By using supercharging systems, Renault engineers can downsize to reduce engine capacity and CO2 emissions without stinting on performance. For example, the TCe 100 fitted on Clio today replaces the 1.7 l engine from 1991 that developed 90 hp. The TCe unit increases that power while reducing CO2 emissions by 75g/km.

Recycling: Clio contains 10% recycled plastic, or 19 kilos.

New Mégane dCi 110 EDC

Production: New Mégane is manufactured at the Palencia plant (Spain), ISO 14001 certified.

CO2 emissions: Equipped with the EDC automatic transmission (available next spring), New Megane will emit just 119g of CO2/km. The new Efficient Dual Clutch will initially be available for 1.5 dCi 110 DPF diesel versions of the Renault Megane range. It will be the first automatic vehicle to receive the Renault eco² label.

Recycling: New Mégane Hatchback contains 23 kilos of recycled plastic and its recoverability is more than 95%.

Laguna dCi 110

Production: Laguna is manufactured at the Sandouville plant, which obtained ISO 14001 certification in 1998.

CO2 emissions: On Laguna, the 2.2-liter diesel engine that developed 115 hp in 1996 has been replaced with a 110 hp 1.5 dCi unit emitting just 122g/km of CO2 over a combined cycle. This represents a 60 g/km reduction in CO2 emissions and a fuel consumption cut of 2.3 l/100 km in under 11 years.

Recycling: Laguna benefitted from all the experience Renault has acquired in eco-design with a view to improving recycling results. Thanks to the efforts of Renault and suppliers on 90 of the car's components, it is 95% recoverable by mass at end of life and contains more than 16% recycled plastic (33 kilos).

Dacia eco²

The Dacia brand introduced the Dacia eco² signature in October 2008. Qualifying models have to meet three criteria, as demanding as those of Renault eco², on use, production and recycling:

  • CO2 emissions equal to or less than 140g/km.
  • Dacia range vehicles are manufactured in two ISO 14001-certified plants: Pitesti in Romania (certified since May 2005) and SOMACA in Casablanca, Morocco (certified since February 2008).
  • 95% recoverable by mass at end of life, containing at least 5% recycled plastic.

The dCi 70 and dCi 85 engines (emitting 140 g/km and 137 g/km of CO2, respectively) carry the Renault eco² signature and are fitted on Logan, Logan MCV and Sandero.
