EDUCATING ALL AUDIENCES

Human behaviour is a factor in almost 80% of road accidents. Looking beyond vehicle safety, Renault is committed to educating all audiences in all the countries where the Group is present. The aim is to train drivers to be responsible and to achieve a lasting reduction in the number of road accidents.

Educating the general public

Safety for all

Road accidents are the main cause of death in young people aged between 15 and 24. Launched in 2000, the “Safety for All” program aims to train, educate and raise the awareness of young people on road safety. It is aimed at three key age groups: children, teenagers and young drivers. These operations are conducted in partnership with local teachers and authorities. The program has been rolled out in more than 20 countries around the world, and ten million young people have already taken part.

Global Road Safety Initiative

Renault  is taking part in the Global Road Safety Initiative with 12 other countries. Through this project, Renault has made a commitment to promoting road safety in developing countries. These countries have a particularly high level of exposure –  traffic accidents could become the third cause of mortality by 2020. The objective is to work with the local authorities to put in place road safety initiatives (good practice guides, training centres, financial assistance, etc.).

Educating employees

Renault has published a Drivers’ Charter for all its employees. The Group encourages staff to respect the highest standards in safe driving, e.g. by preparing each journey, showing scrupulous respect for the highway code, and driving responsibly.

At the same time, Renault is committed to involving managers in preventing road risk, and to regularly revising and renewing the company’s own vehicles.

Renault’s commitment to educating employees can be seen in the event  “Road Safety Month”. Organized by the company every year, this initiative aims to familiarize employees with the safety equipment developed by Renault.
