The Ayrton Senna complex is located in an industrial district of Sao José dos Pinhais, in the metropolitan area of Curitiba in the state of Parana, Brazil. The complex covers an area of 2.5 million m² in the industrial zone. The buildings occupy an area of 319,069 m2. And 60% of the total area is covered by unspoilt forest. The closest homes are 250 m from the site boundaries, and the closest schools are 1 km from the site.
Every year, for World Environment Day on June 5, the Ayrton Senna Complex organizes a Sustainable Development Week to raise staff awareness of environmental issues and corporate responsibility. Several environmental initiatives were organized in 2009, including carpooling, a paper-free day (with an awareness-raising campaign to reduce paper consumption in offices), a video for employees’ children and a short questionnaire on calculating one’s carbon footprint. Several projects were carried out by the Environment department at CAS in 2009, including the recycling of expanded polystyrene, which is transformed into accessories for construction and decoration, and the installation of the first phase of the project on recovering and recycling storm water.Renault do Brasil renewed its ISO 14001 certification in 2009 for a three-year period (through 2012).85% recycled. The recovery rate of waste generated by the Ayrton Senna Complex is 99%.
