PREVENTION

Renault engineers design high-tech equipment to prevent risky situations, by alerting the driver and making driving easier.

Preventing through alerts

Renault cars are fitted with systems that warn the driver of any potentially dangerous driving situations:

  • A buzzer goes off over 20 kph if a seatbelt is unfastened or poorly fastened. The risk here is real: at 50 kph, restraining a 75 kg passenger in a car hitting a wall requires a force equal to more than 2 metric tons.
  • A tire pressure monitoring system warns drivers of punctures and insufficient pressure. Incorrect tire pressure reduces grip and increases the risk of blow-outs.

Driving aids

Renault vehicles are equipped with automated systems that relieve drivers of routine tasks, leaving them free to concentrate on the road.

  • Automatic headlights and windscreen wipers

Light sensors and rain sensors assess the situation outside and turn on the headlights and wipers whenever necessary.

  • Additional cornering lights
On winding roads, the inside of bends are not lit up by headlights. Additional cornering lights, directed at an angle of 40° to the axis of the car, compensate for this shortcoming.

  • Xenon and bi-xenon headlights
Xenon headlights improve night driving safety by increasing visibility to more than 100 meters. The light flow of xenon lamps is more intese and better directed than classic lamps.
