Four artists - four nationalities and four artistic disciplines - with “twinguesque” genes express their view of the world: joyous, optimistic, clever and bold, just like the compact city car. Renault is giving the main artistic disciplines – fashion, music, design, cooking –an opportunity to express themselves in a bright and original environment: by making over the interior of New Twingo.

The line up features: French fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, a man of multiple talents, Italian chef Davide Scabin renowned for his creative cooking, UK singer Nicola Roberts, queen of the charts, pragmatic German designer, Nils Holger Moormann, who finds new uses for everyday objects.

Playfully imaginative but always elegant, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac casts the eye of a « Republican artist » on New Twingo inventing for it a Presidential destiny… whereby Twingo, that most democratic of cars, assumes the mantle of the Republic…

The roll-call (the electoral roll of course) includes period furniture, candelabras and polished parquet flooring. A nod to the sumptuous luxury of the Elysées, complemented by the matt black bodyshell. Very rock ‘n roll.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is an emblematic French designer both in his designs and his polymorphous creations. His inspiration comes from myriad sources in his bright, sparkling, playful universe and he has revolutionised the world of art and fashion through his creations and his influences from the world of pop and rock. He declares: « Our generation demands a new low-cost luxury. We have to reconcile creativity and democracy. It should be a cast-iron rule for all candidates in the Presidential elections that they have to travel in a Presidential Twingo. »

Twingo Goes Pop by Nicola Roberts is a synopsis of her life: music and fashion – washed down by gallons of coffee! A recording studio evoking her latest album, Cinderella’s Eyes, clothes and make-up, coffee machine… New Twingo is transformed into the all-purpose car-living space of a British « working girl ». But one who is far from run of the mill. 

Nicola Roberts is a young British singer, who, after taking part in the television programme « Popstars », was one fifth of the successful girl band, Girls Aloud. Nowadays she is pursuing a solo career as a singer.
 

Davide Scabin, like all Italians, loves a « Bella Macchina ». In the cabin of the New Twingo Davide Scabin draws up a detailed inventory of all the components of Italian cuisine with, as a centrepoint for this world of emotions, that essential: Pasta.

As far as international critics are concerned, Davide Scabin is a supremely talented professionnal. For over 20 years he has been inventing and offering new gastronomical dishes, combining top quality with innovation, both in the domain of style and in the blend of tastes and ingredients. The latter is never left to chance, but is the fruit of long consideration, followed by meticulous execution and an almost obsessive precision. He says: « For me, the car is like cooking. It is a discovery, a movement, a journey to other people. I see New Twingo as a manifesto, an explosion which expresses the essential values of my work. It is the opposite of standing still like New Twingo. »

Nils Holger Moormann decided to make the cabin of his New Twingo a place of peace, rest and meditation; in stark contract to the stress which, too often, symbolises the car. An avid reader, Nils Holger Moormann has created in New Twingo a veritable « reading room » where the inhabitant can escape, far from the madding traffic jam. A library, a big sofa, fireplace… all the components of a wonderfully cosy den.

Since 1982, Nils Holger Moormann, a self-taught follower of the school of « New German Design », has produced and marketed the work of young, as yet unknown, designers. Simplicity, intelligence and innovation are the basic principles to which the works conform. They stand out thanks to their innovational essence, their precise lines and sober form.

These four vehicles will be on display at L'Atelier Renault (Paris) from December 2011 to the early days of January 2012. You don't want to miss that!
