Commemorated yearly on June 5, WED is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. The theme for WED 2011 is Forests: Nature at your service. It echoes the urgent call to preserve the green lungs of our planet.

Renault Group sites around the world are commited and mobilized for environmental protection, people's sensibilization and changing individual habits. 

A few examples...

• In Croatia, the Renault-Nissan Alliance follows an environmental program with its local partners to get rid of car wrecks. Since 2007, over 13,300 wrecks have been removed.
• In Romania, the Expeditia Verde project is an eco-friendly challenge on-line, between 4 of the country's most important bloggers.
• In Poland, Renault has sponsored the skipper Roman Paskze and his catamaran eco2 for the past 3 years. He beat the record for the Canary Islands – Guadeloupe crossing last January. 

• in South Korea, employees of the Renault Samsung Motors plant in Busan will help to clean the Nakdong river, located in the neighbourhood.

• In Turkey, employees of the Renault Oyak plant in Bursa take care of woods in the vicinity. In addition, more than 8,000 fruit trees have been planted in the gardens of 22 villages located around the plant.

• In Spain, the engine factory of Valladolid limits its impact on environment by reusing every single liter of water. Treated and depolluted, the water is then redistributed through production lines.
