ENVIRONMENT

END OF LIFE

The environmental issues involved in vehicle end of life are factored in right from the design phase.

Recycled plastic

Working with its suppliers, Renault develops vehicles that from design include at least 5% recycled plastic (Renault eco² range). This percentage rises as high as 17% on some models.

95% recyclable

Renault eco² vehicles are 95% recyclable at end of life. Once they have been cleared of pollutant materials, dismantled and shredded, they move on to a second life. Recycling supplies energy (for cement works, heating, etc.) and creates new materials, including recycled plastic.

Renault Environment

Renault took a further step forward in 2008 by setting up Renault Environment, a subsidiary that works to recover end-of-life products and develop new environmental services.

Recycling 95% of end-of-life vehicles

Within the LIFE project ICARRE 95 (Innovative CAR REcycling 95%), Renault aims to recycle 95% of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs). To do so, and in line with the principles of the circulary economy, Renault, along with four industrial partners, will outline an effective process for dismantling the various parts of the recovered car and develop a cradle-to-cradle process for recycling.
