RENAULT, A COMMITTED PLAYER

Renault factors in all the impacts of its vehicles throughout their lives, from design and production to use and recycling. The objective of this global “life cycle” approach is to reduce the environmental footprint of its vehicles.

Production

All Renault production plants have ISO 14001 certification, reflecting progress achieved in environmental management.

Use

The development of the Energy range of engines, electric vehicles and vehicles running on biofuels, as well as downsizing efforts, help reduce CO2 emissions during the vehicle use phase.

The emissions' average for the range of cars sold by Renault in Europe (135g/km) are among the lowest in Europe (ACEA average: 140g of CO2/km). This number should keep on decreasing to a 120g/km by 2013, and less than 100g/km by 2016

End of life

New vehicle recycling procedures at end-of-life, together with the development of internal eco-design processes, have enabled Renault to set an objective of using 50 kg recycled plastic per car in 2015, equal to an average 20% of all plastic content. Today, all Renault vehicles are already 95% recoverable by mass.
