RENAULT PARTNERSHIP WITH ELLEN MACARTHUR

Renault has partnered with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation since September 2010. The Foundation works to encourage new generations to imagine, design and build a positive and prosperous future working hand in hand with the worlds of industry and education. The partnership underscores Renault’s ambition to develop sustainable mobility accessible to all.

Towards a circular economy

As a major automotive manufacturer, Renault knows that it has a role to play in the development of mobility that is ever more environment-friendly and widely affordable. The company designed its electric vehicle range as part of this innovative approach.

“Renault’s commitment to launching widely affordable electric vehicles is a decisive step towards a long-term viable business model. We are working together to encourage young generations to seize a fantastic opportunity: imagining a positive future.” - Ellen MacArthur

With the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Renault is getting involved in the principle of the circular economy, which recreates rather than destroys.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation works to provide young people (11 and up) and university students with the tools and skills needed to rethink their future on the basis of the circular economy. To that end, it develops educational material and new media.

Project ReDesign

In 2011 Renault worked with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation on “Project ReDesign”.

The project was organized in five regions of the UK with 17-18 year olds and consisted of a series of workshops focusing on the circular economy. Each workshop gave rise to a competition broadly supported by Renault employees, who were involved as industry experts.

Renault offered a week-long training course to six competition winners, encouraging them to think about eco-mobility issues and the significant role that could be played by electric vehicles as part of an infrastructure redesigned in line with circular economy principles.
