Half of the funds Renault invests in sponsorship go to initiatives selected by its subsidiaries, whose excellent knowledge of local issues ensures the appropriate use of funds.
In Spain, the Food Bank Foundation in Seville distributes food to the destitute. In one year it has distributed 3.5 million metric tons of food at 334 centers to nearly 40,000 people. Some 1,200 employees from the Renault plant in Seville helped out the Foundation during the “Kilo” operation.
Renault worked in partnership with the Red Cross to help the Japanese population after the March 11, 2011 earthquake. More than 1,500 Renault employees made a donation to the Red Cross. In all, Renault donated €931,916.
In India, Renault supports the "Saksham" project (meaning "trained, strengthening of one's abilities" in Hindi) to promote the youth's employment through professional training in Delhi's slum areas.
In Brazil, the staff at the Ayrton Senna/Renault do Brasil complex helped out victims of the torrential rains in January 2011 by organizing a five-day campaign to collect staples. Tons of clothes, food, water and hygiene products were collected. Three Master vehicles were also given to fire fighters in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
