The plant is located on the coast of south-east Korea. It is in the Shinho regional industrial complex to the west of Busan, on a reconstituted plot of land in the estuary of the Nakdong river, which runs to the east. To the south is the Namhea coast. The region of Namhea is a natural heritage site in which the ecosystem is protected.
To the north a new industrial complex is being constructed, and to the south, close to the plant is a residential area with a new apartment complex.
In 2009, the Busan plant launched the production of a new vehicle named L38, succeeding SM3 and is preparing another new vehicle named L43 replacing SM5.
The waterborne paint has been applied to the top base coat in paint shop in 2007.
Environmental issues implemented in each UET (working unit) were already included in Renault Production System (SPR) session such as SPT, EWT file and DOJO board. The dojo is an training center. The DOJO board was initiated in the Engine shop in 2008, and it will be extended to other shops in 2009-2010.
Other Renault environment standards
were already implemented in the plant, such as legionella risk quotation sheet, an environment and risk prevention auto evaluation, soil prevention evaluation in exacting facilities, and EcoRisques, an information technology system used to help the plant identify and prioritize its environmental impacts and potential danger.
