The plant lies close to the city of Los Andes, in an industrial zone, but it is also close to residential areas (east), to a school (south) and to farmland (south-west). It stands next to a Peugeot car manufacturing plant.
The covered area of the entire site totals 14,000m². The town of Los Andes is 75 km north of Santiago, the capital city. The plant produces and assembles gearboxes.
The plant is considered by the administration as generating no industrial liquid effluents apart from sanitary waste. Industrial liquid effluents are treated externally.
The site implemented actions to control water loss, resulting in a decrease in consumption in 2009.
Over the last few years the site has rolled out initiatives to reduce energy consumption, including the implementation of an automatic system to turn out lights and the disconnection of machines when not in operation.
An increase in production (start-up of crankcase machining and turning of gears) notably impacted electricity consumption, which increased from 7,469 KWh in 2008 to 9,500 KWh in 2009.
