He joined Renault in 1977 as a calculation engineer in the Engine Design Office. He held a number of different positions in engine design before being appointed Project Leader for the Energy Engine Project, then Section Manager, Advanced Engine Research, and finally Head of the
Powertrain Architecture Department. He became Head of Powertrain Design and Technologies in 2002 and in 2005 was appointed Deputy Director of Powertrain Engineering with responsibility for strategy, requirements, innovation, advanced engineering and project planning.
Since November 2007 he has been Deputy Director of Pre-Engineering, Projects and Requirements, with responsibility for cross-functional projects. He has been appointed as an Expert Fellow with effect from January 4, 2010. He is also the former chairman of Groupement Scientifique Moteurs, an engine research grouping that includes IFP, PSA and Renault.
