PROTECTION

Because accidents cannot always be prevented, Renault equips its cars with protection systems for passengers of all ages and sizes, whatever their position in the vehicle.

Protective cabin 

Renault vehicle structures are designed to crumple gradually, absorbing much of the impact energy during a collision and protecting the cabin, which has a stiffer structure.

Effective protection in collisions 

Renault constantly perfects existing equipment and develops new systems to protect vehicle occupants in the event of impact.

 

Today’s airbags inflate in 30 thousandths of a second and reduce the risk of serious head injury by 75%.

Roll bars protect cabriolet passengers by deploying automatically in the event of a rollover.

The Isofix anchor point system developed by Renault  provides optimum protection for children under 10 in impact situations. The advantage of this system is that the child seat remains attached to the rear seat.

Safety for all 

For Renault, safety is not just for front passengers.

 

Rear passengers are protected by an adapted seatbelt. Belts on the side seats feature:

  • pretensioners, which lock the belt in the event of impact,
  • load limiters, which release the belt gradually after impact to limit the pressure exerted on the passenger's body.

Together with airbags, pretensioners make up the Third-generation Renault System for Restraint and Protection (SRP3). According to the violence of impact, this system adapts the way the protection equipment reacts.

 

Pedestrians are particularly vulnerable in the event of vehicle impact.

The front end of Renault vehicles features forms and materials that reduce the severity of injury in the event of impact.
