TCE 100

On the market since 2007 and a pioneer in its class, the TCe 100 was the first of Renault’s petrol engines to be downsized. This 100 hp 1.2 l engine equips the brand's A and B segments, and combines the fuel consumption of an engine of its size with the power of a 1.4 l block of the torque of a 1.6 l powerplant.

Genuine punch

A record combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.4 l/100km.

Developed from the 1.2 16V 75hp block, the TCe 100 engine is equipped with a low inertia turbo that ensures minimal lag thanks to its small diameter turbine and compressor.

Its maximum power of 100hp and peak torque of 155 Nm are available at 5,500 rpm and 3,500 rpm respectively. The marriage of a small cubic capacity and a low inertia turbo ensures lively response from low revs, while maximum torque is available from low speeds and remains available across a broad rev-band. The turbocharger includes an "overpower" feature which temporarly boosts power output in 2nd, 3rd, 4th gears at engine speeds of more than 4,500rpm (5hp extra torque). Moreover, the engine is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox (JH3).

Fuel efficient

With a cubic capacity of 1,149cc, this small engine enables Clio to claim a record combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.4 l /100km, a figure to which its low idling speed of 650 rpm contributes.

Respect for the environment

With CO2 emissions homologated at 125 g/km (Clio), the TCe engine anticipates the gradual renewal of interest in gasoline engines given the rising cost of diesel engines resulting from the future Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards.
