A WORLDWIDE NETWORK OF CONCEPTION

Because innovation finds its inspiration at the most local levels, Renault has set up an international design and engineering network covering the four corners of the globe. This network places innovation at the service of local trends to better satisfy the needs of diverse customers.

International design network

Renault Technology Romania, the romanian conception center.

The Group organizes international vehicle design at two levels. While vehicles are developed on a local scale, their roll-out is planned at a global level. Regional engineering centers, including the Technocentre, are backed by a network of five “satellite” design centers, in France, Romania, South Korea, India and Brazil.

Some examples of dedicated engineering centers

Technical engineering centers test, tune and validate vehicle prototypes before launch.

The Aubevoye Technical Center in Normandy has unrivalled technical resources for testing prototypes and range vehicles. It boasts 40 km of test track and digital simulation equipment for verifying the performance of Technocentre prototypes. Vehicles are also tested for reliability, durability, comfort and fuel economy.

The Lardy Technical Center in the Paris region tests new powertrain components. It makes tests both on isolated parts and on complete engine or vehicle prototypes. Lardy also conducts more than 500 crash tests a year!

The Powertrain Prototype Production Center (CRPM) in Rueil-Malmaison (Paris region) designs engine and transmission prototypes. This is a highly detailed process, with the assembly of each engine requiring a precision level of a tenth or even a hundredth of a millimeter.

People are attracted to cars – and buy them – mainly because of the way they look. This is why Renault places enormous emphasis on the styling of its new models. Some 430 employees of more than 20 nationalities work on developing Renault’s design  signature and brand image.

These employees work at the Technocentre in Guyancourt – the heart of Renault vehicle design – and at the five “satellite” design centers at Paris in France, Mumbai in India, Bucharest in Romania, Sao Paulo in Brazil, and Kiheung in South Korea.

This international breadth enables Renault to:

  • develop the creativity of its design teams by exposing them to dynamic and varied cultural environments,
  •  identify local trends and particularities in order to grow sales,
  • strengthen the Group’s international presence.

The centers are designed to foster dialogue between design experts and between design experts and the outside world. The centers regularly compete against each other to fully encourage creativity.
