For the 64th edition of the festival, which took place May 11 to 22, 2011, an official fleet of more than 100 Latitude escorted the elite of international film to the red carpet. Also wandering on the Croisette : more than forty Espace, Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet Floride and Fluence Z.E., first electric vehicle at the Cannes Festival.

For Renault Fluence Z.E.'s first participation at the Cannes Festival, "a family day" was organized on May 18, 2011. This was the occasion to test and drive Fluence Z.E. and to enjoy the Renault Majestic 64 beach, thanks to Renault Z.E.'s Facebook page

Renault is also working with the Les Toiles Enchantées association represented by French actor and director Alain Chabat, loaning vehicles to transport projection equipment and association members. Hospitalized children in the Cannes region were able to enjoy the festival by attending world-premiere film screenings.

For the fourth year running, L’Atelier Renault on the Champs-Elysées in Paris took up residence on the Majestic 64 beach. Every day from 10am to 6pm, L’Atelier Renault welcomed personalities, cast and crews, and media professionals a stone’s throw away from the Palais des Festivals.

This year, the Festival's jury was eclectic, international and always glamorous. Presided by actor Robert de Niro, it welcomed to its ranks Uma Thurman (actress), Jude Law (actor), Martina Gusman (actress, Leonera and Carancho), Nansun Shi (producer, Infernal Affairs), Johnny To (actor, Breaking News and Vengeance), Linn Ullmann (daughter of Ingmar Bergman, author of Miséricorde), Olivier Assayas (director-writer) and Mahamat Saleh Haroun (director-writer, Un homme qui crie).

They chose between 20 films in competition, among which : La piel que habito (by Pedro Almodovar), Melancholia (by Lars von Trier), Le gamin au vélo (by the Dardenne brothers) and Habemus Papam (by Nanni Moretti). Terrence Malick was awarded the Palme d'Or for his movie The Tree of Life.

This year, Cannes has installed a little innovation here and there. Egypt was the first guest of the festival, thus starting a series of annual celebrations in honor of the great film nations of the world, with a program of celebrations and screenings on May 18. Jean-Paul Belmondo, was back in Cannes to receive an ovation from the world of cinema ; Stanley Kubrick and Georges Mélies were celebrated through Cannes Classics ; finally, a Palme d'Or of Honor was awarded at the opening ceremony to Bernardo Bertolucci (Jury President Robert De Niro was his actor in 1900).

Between Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris at the opening of the festival and The Beloved by Christophe Honore closing, Cannes deployed its charm, its mysteries and traditions: fifty films in the Official Selection, dozens of guests every day, hundreds of screenings, thousands of film-buffs.
