For its 37th edition, the Deauville Film Festival has asked the assistance of a top-end jury. President Olivier Assayas (director) will debate the merits of the films in competition with jury members Nathalie Baye (actress), Claire Denis (director), Nicolas Godin (musician, band Air), Chiara Mastroianni (actress), Angelin Prejlocal (choregrapher), Jean Rolin (writer) and also Bruno Todeschini (actor) before giving the Grand Prix and the Prix du Jury in the evening of September 10.
The jury selected will choose the winners amongst 14 films in competition, including Trust (by David Schwimmer), Detachment (with Adrien Brody), Take Shelter, Yelling to the Sky and The Dynamiter.
As always, there will be prestigious premieres, with many stars on the red carpet. Francis Ford Coppola is guest of honor and will host a debate open to the public, during the festival. Steve Carell is expected to attend the screening of Crazy, Stupid, Love as is Ryan Gosling, also starring in Drive. Jean Dujardin should be in attendance for The Artist, whereas Robert Redford and James McAvoy are premiering The Conspirator. The festival will also see tributes paid to the careers of Francis Ford Coppola, Blake Edwards, Danny Glover, Shirley MacLaine, Todd Solondz and Naomi Watts.
This year again, Deauville will celebrate TV series during an event called Deauville Season 2. This focus comes as an addition to the Les docs de l'Oncle Sam selection, the Nuits Américaines and numerous master classes.
