Inspired by desire

Launched in 1990, Clio has made its mark on the history of Renault, with 11.5 million units sold in more than 115 countries. The fourth generation is out to write a new page in this “success story”. New Renault Clio embodies the renewal of Renault design, with its sensual and emotional styling.

 

Renault Clio is inspired by the concept car DeZir. The front end features a larger, vertical logo, showcased proudly against a gloss black background. The chrome-trimmed headlights and LED daytime-running lights create an even more expressive look.

 

Available only as a 5-door model, Renault Clio (length 4.05 m and width 1.72 m) sets itself apart with a sporty design, featuring concealed rear door handles near the quarter window. This new version of Clio is lower than its predecessor, with wider tracks and wheels pushed out towards the exterior. At the same time, the smaller gap between the wheels and wheel arches highlights the car’s strength and personality.

An interior inspiring strength and confidence 

Designed to complement the exterior styling, the interior of Renault Clio inspires strength and confidence. Features include a dashboard sculpted to resemble an aircraft wing, an optimally positioned central console with multimedia functions (R-Link or Media Nav), a wide range of colour options, a digital speedometer, comfortable seating and chrome or gloss black trim for a modern, ergonomic design.

From launch, Renault Clio buyers can customize the door mirror housings, grille strips, rear panel skirt, lower door protection and wheel colours as well as the roof graphics. Inside the car, the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, grab handles, gear lever base, air vent surrounds, upholstery and protective mats can all be customized. Customers can choose from a list of packs to achieve the effect they want.

Lower fuel consumption and better safety 

Renault Clio combines fuel economy and drivability with an upgraded range of engines: two new petrol engines, Energy TCe 90 and TCe 120, and one diesel, the Energy dCi 90. The Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic gearbox will be available in 2013 on the TCe 120 petrol engine and the dCi 90 diesel. Further, depending on the market and level of trim, Renault Clio ships with a range of solutions to help drivers cut their fuel consumption and carbon emissions: an ECO mode that can be activated at the press of a button, driving style and gear change indicators, and the Driving Eco² application, which is part of the R-Link system.

 

When it comes to safety, Euro NCAP ranked Renault Clio as the "Best Car of 2012" in its "supermini" class. It has been awarded a five-star rating following passive tests. Equipment for passenger safety includes high-efficiency airbags, the Fix4sure technology to combat submarining  or the three-point Isofix child seat anchorage. All versions of the model are equipped with ESC, ASR traction control, ABS and emergency brake assists, as well as electric variable-rate power steering and cruise control/speed limiter.

 

Renault Clio is built in the ISO 14001 certified plants of Flins (France) and Bursa (Turkey).

Renault Clio for Mercosur

Previous generations of Clio continue their careers across the world. Under the heading "Collection", Clio III is manufactured in the Flins (France) and Valladolid (Spain) plants. In Latin America, Clio II took advantage of a restyling to adopt the brand's new design identity. Revealed at the 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show, this car is manufactured in Cordoba (Argentina).
