He started up a consultancy called Style International in 1967 and joined Ford in the UK in 1968 as a designer. He went on to work at Volkswagen as director of corporate design in 1985. He joined Renault in 1987 as vice president, corporate design. Appointed senior vice president, quality and corporate design in 1995, he joined the Renault Management Committee in the same year. He was named Senior Vice President, Corporate Design in 1999. Patrick le Quément also acts a consultant to Nissan design teams as part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
