Auditor, then public auditor at the auditor-general's department, he went on to become a technical consultant with the advisory staff of the interior minister. He joined Renault in 1981 as finance manager of European subsidiaries. He successively occupied a number of posts within the Group, namely managing director of Renault Germany (1986), vice president, Southern Europe market area (1993) and vice president, Market Area France (1994). He was named Senior Vice President, Mercosur in 1997 and Senior Vice President, International Operations on July 1, 2002. On September 2002, he became Chairman of the Dacia Board of Directors. He became Renault's Senior Vice President, Public Affairs on July 1, 2005.
