Student internships
Renault takes on 600 interns a year in France, 30% of whom are from abroad. Usually lasting for a period of 6 months, internships are offered with a view to achieving well-defined goals. The aim is to help interns to gain genuine professional experience. Internships are also a recruitment opportunity: in 2006, 40% of the first-time managers recruited were former interns.

Who can apply?
Student internships are open to students in postgraduate programs and students in third year of a business or engineering course. For all other internships, each site and each subsidiary recruits according to its own criteria.
What type of internships are offered?
Each internship is created to meet a specific company need with detailed assignments and objectives. The type of assignment given to interns is very similar to that given to newly recruited managerial staff.
60% of interns work in technical fields (design, manufacturing), 20% in sales and marketing and 20% in support (finance and control, human resources, communication, etc.).
A rigorous process
In the final quarter of each year, all internship requirements are identified. The recruitment ads are drawn up in the same way as normal job offers. Some of these internship offers can be consulted online at www.renault.com, at partner educational establishments and at job forums in which Renault participates.
The internship department shortlists applications and the final choice is down to the mentor, who meets candidates. The mentor, generally the person who defined the internship requirement, is in charge of supervising and assessing the intern for the duration of his or her assignment.
A tried and tested organization
Interns are a fertile recruiting ground for future employees. They are received in a such a way as to facilitate rapid integration within the company.
At the end of the internship, interns draw up an assessment in conjunction with their mentor and are encouraged to evaluate their experience.
Opening doors to the future
Interns who wish to pursue their career with Renault indicate this at their end-of-internship interview. Their application is then given priority, provided that they correspond to the profiles being sought for positions open for recruitment at the time.
