Meet the people: Sylvie Solem
The Corporate Volunteer Programme (VIE) at Renault is an enriching experience on both a personal and professional level. Renault subsidiaries abroad regularly integrate young graduates and help them find their marks within the company. Sylvie Solem speaks about her VIE in the Netherlands.

French, 23 years old.

Forecast analyst with the Marketing department in the Netherlands.
Personal details: Likes dance (classical, modern, and latino) and music (piano).
"After having done a course which combined training in both engineering and commerce, I really wanted to go abroad. Mainly because I like travel but also because some experience working abroad is now an indispensable part of career development.
So I attended a forum on the VIE in Paris. I was attracted to the automotive sector because it sets a benchmark in logistics, which was the field I wanted to work in. I chose Renault, in particular because it offers good opportunities for inter-professional and international mobility.
I am doing my VIE at the Renault Nissan Sales & Marketing subsidiary in the Netherlands. I'm responsible for reporting (tracking of volumes: registrations, inventory, orders) and forecast analysis. I also work together with people in France to handle special requirements vehicles that we import in small volumes for specific reasons.
This is a very enriching professional experience for me. I am getting to know the company from the point of view of a subsidiary, while being in direct contact with its head offices. This gives me a good overview of how an international enterprise functions in reality. And working with people from another culture in an unfamiliar market is a very formative experience.
I was really impressed with the welcome I have received and with how helpful people have been in helping me to settle in. Of course, Renault offered me Dutch language lessons to help with my integration both here in the Netherlands and within the company itself.
I am very happy at Renault and my predecessors must have felt the same as they have all remained with the group. Even abroad, Renault's commitment to its employees is clear.
And it's also an enriching experience for me on a personal level: I've been lucky enough to find a place to live right in the centre of Amsterdam on one of its canals. It's an opportunity to discover a country under the best possible conditions and to build relations with others."
