Protect air quality
With Renault eco², the Group is restating its commitment to improving air quality.
All Renault vehicles are manufactured at industrial sites respecting ISO 14001, a standard whose content includes approval of the procedures put in place by the site to cut atmospheric emissions. Vehicles also respect the legislation on pollutant emissions in the countries where they are sold.
Production phase
- In 2007 VOC emissions per average vehicle produced within the scope of the objective (scope: production in 2001) fell to 4.07 kg/veh.
- VOC emissions per average vehicle produced for the Group as a whole fell from 7 kg per vehicle to 4.8 kg between 1988 and end-2007.
- SO2 and NOx emissions fell by 81% and 22% respectively between 2003 and 2007.
Today more than 75% of sites are equipped with the latest clean technologies, and all Group sites worldwide control their VOC emissions, applying an identical and exhaustive accounting system to both point and diffuse emissions.

Vehicle-use phase
Through the efforts made over the past thirty years and more, the automotive industry has cut vehicle emissions by a factor of 100. The trend is expected to continue over the next few years with continuously optimized fuel-injection techniques and after-treatment technologies.

- As of January 1, 2006, the Renault range satisfies and even goes beyond the Euro 4 standard in Europe. New Laguna 2.0 dCI respects Euro 5 limits, applicable from September 2009, in terms of pollutant emissions.
