Valued Citizens program in South Africa

The Valued Citizens program was set up by the South African ministry of education in 2001, after 40 years of apartheid. Targeting children from disadvantaged communities, this educational program places the emphasis on schooling and citizenship.

Valued Citizens has four ambitions:

  • create a school environment that will favor children's development;
  • focus on civic education and critical thinking, while teaching children self-esteem and respect for others;
  • prevent crime and violence;
  • create jobs by encouraging some young people to become citizenship educators.

The program brings together all those involved in the education system: teachers, educators and parents.
Renault became involved with the Valued Citizens program for the first time in 2001. In 2003, it became the main partner.

Women’s Forum

For the second year running, Renault partnered the Women's Forum, which was held in Deauville between October 11 and 13, 2007.

Renault's partnership with the Forum reflects its strong commitment to gender equality. Its proactive policy in this area includes concrete measures to give freedom of opportunity to women throughout the world by helping them to receive an education and job training as well as to start new businesses. Renault's support for the Women for Education program in 2007 is one way it is working to achieve this goal.

Renault’s commitment to training low-skilled young people in France

For several years, Renault has been active in training low-skilled young people. In 1992, Renault and the French Ministry of Employment, Labor and Social Cohesion made an agreement which aimed at getting more young people into the workforce. This agreement has been renewed for four times since its signature. The program includes a training at an industrial site, followed by a work-study contract and help finding a job. At the end of the program, participants receive a diploma as an "industrial systems operator" that is recognized in multiple sectors.

The Renault Foundation

Set up in March 2001, the Foundation aims to promote French and European culture by providing training for high-flying students from other countries. It thus plays a key role in the Group's international strategy.

The Foundation fosters close links between France and the countries where Renault has a strong presence: Japan, Brazil, Korea and Russia. It welcomes students from the top universities in these countries. By helping these young graduates to understand and feel at ease in a multicultural environment, Renault is training the business leaders of tomorrow.

Renault has developed partnerships with France's foremost universities to develop specialist degrees in management and engineering.
