The humanitarian action of Renault Retail Group
In 2007, the fund set up by Renault Retail Group provided support for many associations. In particular, it contributed to:
- emergency aid (a centre for street children in Mopti (Mali) in liaison with Planète Urgence and the Fondation Abbé Pierre;
- health aid (continuous supply of pharmaceutical products for the dispensary set up by Renault Retail Group in Senegal);
- initiatives to combat serious disease (assistance in setting up a centre for sufferers of Parkinson's);
- education and training (Aide et Action, Enfants de l'Ovale with Philippe Sella);
fair trade (micro-projects in Africa and India).
- Humanitarian missions: REAGROUP funds a humanitarian mission for a staff member who uses his/her skills to train local people in Africa with Planète Urgence. Since 2004, REAGROUP has funded 10 employees to run training programs in Mali (8 in mechanics and 2 in office skills).
Other examples of sponsorship by foreign subsidiaries
- In Belgium, several vehicles have been loaned to UNICEF.
- Cacia (Portugal) makes donations to local theatres.
- Renault UK loans vehicles for events organized by Barnardo's, a charity that supports underprivileged children.
- Renault Revoz (Slovenia) makes donations as part of a range of corporate philanthropy initiatives: contribution to equipment for Novo Mesto hospital, assistance in an operation to clean the river Krka, purchases of books to organize French lessons.
- In Colombia, for every Renault Logan sold over a period of three months, the SOFASA is making a donation to the foundation Vision Mundial for underprivileged children.
- In Brazil, a wide range of initiatives have been set up, including, donations and loans of vehicles for a social and food aid programme targeting people in difficulty; more than 96 tonnes of miscellaneous goods (food, clothing, furniture, drugs, etc.) donated to communities in North and North-Eastern Brazil; financial and material support for the development of a primary school and, in particular, an environmental education programme involving waste sorting, etc.
- Renault Iran has made a number of donations to an association that organizes sporting events to raise funds for children suffering from cancer and for a Franco-Iranian musical group.
- In South Korea, donations have been made to help the elderly, orphans and disaster victims. Also, tree-planting operations have been developed with residents in the village of Shin-Ho.
