Situation
The plant is located on the coast of south-east Korea. It is in the Shinho regional industrial complex to the west of Busan, on a reconstituted plot of land in the estuary of the Nakdong river, which runs to the east. To the south is the Namhea coast. The region of Namhea is a natural heritage site in which the ecosystem is protected. To the north a new industrial complex is being constructed, and to the south, close to the plant is a residential area with a new apartment complex.
First ISO 14001 certification obtained in 2003 and renewed 2006.

Water consumption
Water consumption decreased due to the warm weather conditions which improved the drain quantity.
Water-borne effluents
Plant input only wastewater data except sewage because of no legal obligations. MES and METOX were higher than last year due to the increase in discharged wastewater volume and pollutant quantity related to the production volume. The Organic Matter reduction is due toe the improvement of treatment efficiency by stabilizing the biological treatment stage.
SO2 and greenhouse gas emissions
Gas consumption increased by boosting energy consumption, consequentely there was more SO2, NOx and GHG emitted.
Volatile organic compounds emissions from paint process
VOC emissions were decreased because waterborne paints were applied in top base coat as of Decomber, 2006.
Waste
Inert waste was considerably increased due to the re-pavement to a sinked road. The packaging waste increased because of the rising quantity of imported parts.
Energy
Energy consumption was increased due to the rise in production volume: 2 shifts for the whole year and increased operation time..
Highlights
In 2007, the Busan plant continued to introduce environmentally friendly materials. The waterborne paint application to top base coat in paint shop was finished in 2007.
In addition, set up in 2007 was the Busan 2010 Environment & Risk contract to new projects. Environment checking points were included in EWT file, the general management system by SPR (Work Unit Standardization). Other Renault environment standards have been applied to plant, such as VCU sheet, auto evaluation, soil prevention evaluation in exacting facilities, and EcoRisque.
