Situation

The plant is located in an industrial zone in the centre of Rueil. Part of the site was sold to build a fire station and a building was knocked down to construct a staff parking lot.

First Iso 14001 certification earned in 2001.

The site renewed its certification for three years in December 2007.

Water consumption

The  modernisation carried out on the site has led to changes that considerably reduce mains water consumption. At the same time, relocating some of the test resources  to the Lardy centre has contributed to this reduction.

Maintenance difficulties in 2004 and 2005 pushed up water consumption. In 2006 and 2007, lower water consumption levels were once again observed.

SO2 and greenhouse gas emissions

The replacement of very low sulphur content fuel by natural gas in 2001 has slashed SO2 emissions to very low quantities.

Waste

The variations observed can be explained primarily by the changes in the scope of the site. In 2004, waste tonnage rose owing to the disposal of three PCB transformers and the increased destruction of prototype parts.

In 2005, 11 underground tanks that were used for the old CTR B engine benches and service-station were dismantled, leading to a non-negligible increase in the production of waste. The last PCB transformers were disposed of in 2006.

The increase in waste in 2007 follows the knocking down of buildings.

Energy

A new building that had been in renovation since 1998, came on line (1,200 people) in May 2000. This explains the increase in gas and electricity consumption from this date. The lower fuel consumption can be explained by the fact that it was replaced by natural gas in the heating facilities. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, gas and electricity consumption fell slightly, as they did in 2007.

Highlights

  • Involvement of the network of Environment correspondents:

Rueil's environment management system is based on coverage of the site by environmental correspondents. The role of these correspondents, in their sector, is to make sure that instructions are respected (sorting waste, chemical product storage, etc.) and to promote training and education.
