Workforce
In 2007 the Seville site created 129 jobs, expanding the workforce by more than 10%. Almost all the new recruits held vocational diplomas in mechanics, electronics or automation.
Training hours
The training plan focused primarily on skills-building and accountability, to give operators more information on their working environment. Operators thus developed a high level of versatility and autonomy.
This process is supported by the Renault Production Way (SPR), which provides step-by-step approval of these new skills through the Basic Work Units (BWUs) set up in different areas (quality, pricing, standardization, etc.).
Occupational accidents
In 2007 the Seville site renewed two certifications relating to working conditions:
The HPR (Highly Protected Risk) label, attributed by insurance companies. The site scored 19.5 points out of a possible 20.
The SMR (Renault Management System) label, attributed by the Corporate Working Conditions department following an on-site audit conducted by outside and house experts.
The site is also focusing on the risks run by outside companies operating on-site. As part of this, the Seville site organizes an annual convention to remind outside companies of safety and environmental standards. It also organizes education sessions and publishes guides to raise awareness.
In 2007 the site reported a total of ten accidents, the lowest figure obtained to date.
Initiative & Creativity
The site actively promotes the "Initiative & Creativity" system, which produced a total of 105,672 practical suggestions for improvement (PSIs) between 1976 and 2007.
A network of sector managers oversees the submittal and processing of suggestions throughout the year. This network reinforces the special campaigns conducted in such areas as safety and quality.
The internal suggestions committee rewards the best idea submitted each month.
In 2007, for World Environment Day (5 June), the plant gave prizes for the best suggestions implemented in the field of environmental protection.
In 2007 the site also organized a "PSI forum" presenting suggestions from other sites. The aim is to promote new ideas and their widespread application.
A total 12,307 PSIs were submitted in 2007 as part of these initiatives, i.e. a total of 10.9 ideas per employee during the year. The participation rate was 100%.

Initiatives to promote employees' fundamental rights
Promoting health
For the World Day for Safety and Health at Work (28 April), an event was held to reward employees submitting suggestions in this area. As part of this event, which was attended by all employees, Renault España SA Seville talked about on-site risks and awarded prizes to the employees submitting the best ideas.
Encouraging suppliers to respect basic principles
The site organized a convention on working conditions with the service providers working on site during the summer (production). It printed a Guide to Health and Safety in the Workplace and for the Environment. Distributed to the employees of these companies (500 copies), the guide describes the company's general policy and sets out precise instructions for respecting the integrity of employees and the environment. Daily checks are made to ensure that safety legislation is respected.
