Training hours

More than 81% of the training plan was completed following a course start-up in January. Training focused primarily on skills training (sales and management). Special emphasis was placed on induction courses for new recruits (21 people trained over a period of between six and nine weeks. The training commission held a useful and constructive discussion. A skills assessment tool was deployed to provide reliable data on training needs and their fit with skills requirements.

Occupational accidents

The site continued its prevention initiatives, including training in the management of road risk. Employees received new material along with skills training in chemical risks. Regional divisions organized a number of initiatives to educate employees on applicable risks and recommendations in the fields of safety and working conditions.

Initiative & Creativity

Most of the PSIs (Practical Suggestions for Improvement) were submitted by employees from the Saint-Ouen site, where the participation rate continued to increase. This sector was transferred during 2007, however, and the sales force is less concerned by this issue, given that their activity involves travelling rather than having a fixed base. Studies should be conducted on the resources and communication to be implemented to give new impetus to Initiative & Creativity.

Highlights

Initiatives to promote employees' fundamental rights

  • Promoting safety and good working conditions

An initiative was put in place to ensure the compliance of solutions for shipping substances by road.  The sales force employees concerned received materials respecting the European agreement on the carriage of dangerous goods by road (containers, cans, anti-slip mats, etc.). Support was also provided on the ground.

The Saint-Ouen distribution centre put in place handling systems for all products weighing more than 15 kg. This made it possible to increase the versatility of personnel and, above all, to improve the employability of people with disablements.

At the Saint-Ouen distribution centre, the company purchased a plot of land next to the site to build an outside car park for personnel. This car park has contributed to cutting the risks arising from on-site traffic.
