 The main priority of the progress plan is to cut quantities of residual waste incinerated without recovery of energy or sent to landfill. In pursuit of this aim, Renault is taking action at source (reduction in quantities of waste, design, sorting). The amount of packaging waste per vehicle fell 54 % between 1996 and 2007. In 2007 sites produced 46 kg of ordinary waste (excluding sheet metal scrap) per vehicle. In 2007 sites produced 29 kg of hazardous waste per vehicle....

However, in terms of volume per vehicle, OIW and HIW tonnages fell by 25 % between 2003 and 2007. As a result of the investment in durable packaging, the plant reduced tonnage of packaging waste by 46 % between 2003 and 2007....

Renault is improving sorting at source to increase the recovery of packaging waste. In all countries, the preferred solutions are burning, or incineration with energy recovery (particularly with the cement industry in other countries)....

 Actions were carried out in 2006 to reduce packaging waste (use of durable packaging) and to improve sorting at the waste source in order to improve packaging waste reclamation....
