Compact, expressive and dynamic, Mégane combines sporty performance with a purposeful approach to driving pleasure.

Design

With its elegant, energetic design, Mégane is a car with a strong personality.

  • Exterior design

Mégane is a car apart with its slender front end and distinctive, expressive vertical lines at the rear. Its strong, sleekly muscled lines express strength and dynamic performance. In 2006, Mégane is taking on a new look with elliptical headlamps. A look underlined by a plunging V-shaped radiator grille and a redesigned bumper. It is even more elegant than before, with new translucent rear lights, new body colors and alloy wheels.

  • Interior design

The same dynamic sophisticated design is very much in evidence inside the car. The driving position resembles a cockpit, with an aviation-style handbrake and dial surrounds.
The cabin features premium materials and a high-quality finish, with a soft ambience that is pleasing to the eye and perceptible to the touch.

Driving pleasure

Dedicated to driving pleasure, Mégane brings drivers an exceptional driving experience.
It features electric power steering with the "tube-in-tube" sliding joint, originally developed for Mégane Renault Sport. This set-up provides a high level of precision.
The new lively but frugal 150hp 2.0 dCi 16V sets standards of dynamic performance rarely seen in this segment.

Traveling comfort

Mégane boasts a wide array of ingenious stowage compartments, discreetly integrated with the floor, the door panels and the armrests. A stowage capacity of 48 liters overall!
With its panoramic roof, the cabin is bright and airy.
Particular attention was paid to acoustic comfort and thermal comfort, in order to create a comfortable and relaxed environment.

Safety

Mégane was the first vehicle in its category to receive five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests.
It features ABS, Emergency Brake Assist, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, new-generation ESP with understeer control, cruise control and a speed limiter.
Mégane is equipped with a reinforced body structure, and energy absorption and programmed crumple zones for optimum deformation in the event of impact. It also includes the new-generation Renault System for Restraint and Protection (SRP) to provide maximum protection for all the occupants.
The Sport Hatch version features anti-submarining airbags at the front, a world first when the car was launched. It thus provides the same level of protection as the Hatch.

Environment

Mégane is available with a new range of diesel engines meeting the Euro 4 emission standard, for controlled fuel consumption and CO2 emissions
The 130hp 1.9 dCi includes a particulate filter. It is available for the first time with proactive automatic transmission featuring a flick-shift.
The 105hp 1.5 dCi engine has gained extra power. It remains leader in its category in terms of emissions (120g) and fuel consumption (4.5l per 100km over a combined cycle).

From an acoustic standpoint, Mégane is a particularly quiet car with passing noise of just 71dB(A).
