The purchase of a car has become inseparable from a wide range of services, from financing and insurance, through warranty and maintenance. To make sure that cars remain synonymous with freedom, Renault has developed an array of services for its vehicles.
The many services offered by Renault allow motorists to enjoy worry-free driving.
Simplifying the purchase
A first-class welcome
The first service is the pleasant welcome that visitors receive. Renault's comfortable showrooms are designed so that potential buyers can look over the vehicles easily. The salespeople are trained to advise customers according to their needs and to inform them about the special features of each model. Customers are also urged to take vehicles for a test-drive.
In bigger cities, showcase settings have been created to make discovering Renault's cars an even more exciting experience.
The "sales workstation"
To personalize the customer-salesperson relationship, Renault has created an innovative sales tool called the "sales workstation."
With this software program, salespeople can:
• present the entire selection of new vehicles and services;
• configure a vehicle according to the customer's needs;
• arrange a trade-in for the customer's present vehicle;
• devise a personalized financing solution;
• propose service contracts.
Each salesperson can thus create a personalized customer file that specialists in the Renault network can consult whenever necessary later on for maintenance, repairs, and so on.
In 2005, this Renault service was already available in 11 European countries. In 2006, all dealerships in Europe should have this valuable sales tool.
Financing assistance
To purchase a vehicle, a buyer generally needs to take out a loan and insurance. Renault makes this process easier by offering its own financing and insurance services.
To do this, Renault uses its own financing companies, in particular RCI Banque, to provide customers with credit on excellent terms. Renault gives motorists all over the world the means to acquire a new or used vehicle with complete peace of mind.
Websites for added convenience
Renault's many websites are a good way to discover its vehicles, contact a dealership to inquire about prices, or investigate financing… in short, they can make buying a car easier.
In 2004, the e-commerce sites had more than 29 million visitors.

Maintenance
A full range of aftersales products and services
For routine maintenance and minor repairs, motorists can go to the Renault Minute centers.
The idea is to provide rapid service with no appointment necessary. These centers service cars of any make, but Renault vehicles enjoy special treatment because parts are always available quickly, meaning repairs can be done fast.
There are 481 Renault Minute centers in France, 365 in Europe, and 74 elsewhere in the world.
Renault Minute Bodyshops have been offering bodywork services since 2002. The 460-odd bodyshops worldwide specialize in eliminating the dents and scratches that are common with city driving. Vehicles are off the road for between 24 and 48 hours maximum.
To make these services even better, Renault has brought out several lines of products for maintenance specialists. They include:
• Motrio, a line of spare parts and workshop products for all vehicle brands;
• Ixell, Renault's own brand of paint;
• Ixtar, a line of products for washing, maintaining and renovating vehicles.
Renault contracts
The service contract covers all essential visits to the workshop (oil changes, servicing, mandatory technical inspections, etc.) during the contract period for a monthly payment. This is a customized contract: customers can choose the duration and mileage that best correspond to the way they use the vehicle.
The extended warranty contract adds between one and three years to the "conventional" two-year warranty period. It covers:
• replacement and repair of defective mechanical or electrical parts (excluding maintenance costs);
• Renault Assistance services.
Assistance and repairs
Owning a car means dealing with minor problems or accidents. Renault offers excellent assistance and repair services at reasonable prices.
24/24 assistance
Even a well-maintained vehicle can break down or be involved in an accident. Renault provides year-round, 24/24 assistance in France and 27 other countries in Europe. If necessary, Renault can take care of everything: breakdown service, courtesy vehicle, hotel accommodation, etc.

Renault Assistance performs nearly 230,000 assistance operations each year.
In 2003, Renault made Renault Assistance available not only to the owners of Renault vehicles, but also to those of other brands.
Repairs
To ensure that its customers receive high-quality repair services, Renault also works closely with repair specialists. This involves:
• supplying methods and manuals for each vehicle;
• training;
• providing dedicated websites with technical information on all the vehicles.
Renault has also developed a diagnosis system called Valise Clip. Hooked up to the car through a special connector, it runs a complete test automatically, checking a series of parameters and identifying problems that can then be solved.
In 2004, Renault brought out a simplified version of Valise Clip called easyClip. It is used to configure a car's electronic components and to carry out a series of preliminary checks, such as adjusting the xenon headlamps or changing the language of the on-board computers.
To round out this set of tools, Renault has developed the Remote Clip, which allows technicians in the Renault Assistance network to operate the Clip computer from a distance. Available in 11 European countries, this system makes it easier for the garage mechanic and Renault technicians to work together.
Car rental
Who could be better placed to rent cars than a car manufacturer? Renault Rent offers short-term rental options (passenger cars and light commercial vehicles) at competitive prices.
Any Renault vehicle can be rented through the network of 255 franchise outlets in France.
