As it is not always possible to avoid accidents, Renault cars are fitted with systems to protect all passengers in all seats, regardless of their age, size and shape.

Euro NCAP

The Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program), an independent body runs a permanent program for crash-testing new vehicles, which are rated on a scale from 1 to 5 stars.

Airbags

Airbags enhance the action of seat belts by inflating automatically to reduce the risk of injury on impact.

Headrests

Headrests prevent the backward motion of the head in the event of impact to prevent whiplash neck injuries.

Automatic roll bars for convertibles

Roll bars deploy automatically in a rollover to protect passengers in convertibles.

Child safety system

As a child’s body differs considerably from an adult’s in the way it reacts in an impact, Renault has designed a special child safety system based on standard Isofix fasteners.

ESME (Expandable Sheet Metal Element), active anti-submarining system

In a frontal collision there is always the risk of car occupants sliding under their seat belts, a phenomenon known as “submarining”. To prevent this Renault has developed a special anti-submarining airbag.

Pedestrian safety

For Renault, the “safety for all” concept extends to pedestrians too. Renault cars are therefore designed to minimize the seriousness of injury to pedestrians, highly vulnerable road users, under impact.

Third-generation Renault System for Restraint and Protection (SRP3)

SRP3 optimizes the efficacy of the car’s protection systems by factoring in the force of the impact and the positions of the vehicle's occupants.

Vehicle structure

The structure of a Renault car is specially designed to crumple gradually and absorb impact energy during a collision, leaving the passenger compartment untouched, as a safe survival cell.

Rear seat passenger protection

Given the difference in the conditions experienced by front seat and rear seat passengers on impact, Renault cars are fitted with special safety systems that afford the same degree of protection to all the vehicle's occupants.
