High-performance powertrains (engine and gearbox) consume less energy and pollute less.

Automatic transmission and fuzzy logic

Renault’s ultramodern automatic transmissions implement fuzzy logic capabilities to adapt to the driver's temperament and driving conditions.

Automated manual transmission (AMT)

AMT has the great advantage of only consuming energy when actually changing gears, which makes for lower fuel consumption.

Common rail

The common rail fuel injection system reduces fuel consumption, improves engine efficiency, and minimizes emissions of greenhouse gases.

Downsizing

Using technologies such as turbocharging, the same performance can be obtained from a smaller engine, which is more efficient and emits less greenhouse gas.

Piezo-electric injectors

Piezo-electric injectors under electronic control optimize engine efficiency by making very precise adjustments in the amount of fuel injected.

Camless motors

The traditional camshaft is replaced by electromechanical actuators, to reduce fuel consumption, improve pollution control and raise engine performance.

Optimized combustion

Engine combustion optimization is a primary R&D objective, with considerable bearing on engine performance, fuel consumption and emission levels.

Turbocharger

Far from being a mere add-on, the turbocharger performs a vital function, in reducing fuel consumption and emission levels as well as boosting engine power.
