Acoustics
Renault and Nissan have jointly developed a host of innovations to reduce powertrain noise. Good acoustics contribute to driving comfort.

The M4R 2.0 gasoline engine: excellent acoustics
The 16V M4R 2.0 delivers the driveability of a high-capacity engine, allying power and torque at low engine speeds with performance at higher speeds. This lively engine is also the quietest in its segment.
To achieve this result, the M4R relies on:
- balance shafts to reduce boom;
- a silent timing chain;
- a twin-mass engine flywheel that eliminates the transmission of vibrations to gearbox gears at low engine speeds (on versions equipped with the TL4 6-speed manual gearbox);
- a plastic cylinder-head cover to reduce noise;
- stiffened oil pan and cylinder blocks to eliminate vibration,
- lighter pistons, rods and valves.
TL4 manual gearbox: a 6th speed for lower noise levels
The TL4 is a manual gearbox featuring a 6th speed for maximum torque of 240 Nm.
Designed for small- and medium-capacity gasoline and diesel engines, its main features are:
- compact size;
- light weight.
The close staging of the first 5 speeds ensures engine verve. The appearance of the 6th speed makes it possible to reduce engine speed and thus noise at stable speeds. This improves driving comfort.
