The adaptability
Renault's engines and gearboxes are developed to fit production programs worldwide and serve customers in the four corners of the globe.
Engines and gearboxes
Today the K engines are the biggest sellers worldwide in Central Europe, Japan, South America. They make up a family, in other words a group of different engines developed on a single base. The Group uses these families to meet a range of needs, which notably differ from one country to the next, while keeping a lid on investments.
In 2004, the J gearbox accounted for a little over two-thirds of the Renault Group’s gearbox sales. Manufactured in seven powertrain plants, the J gearboxes are delivered to 33 body assembly sites
for the Renault, Dacia, RSM and Nissan brands, along with Proton and other clients.
Adaptability of the offer and technical performances of the J family gearboxes
The performances at the international level are implemerted thanks to :
the possibility of gearboxes, engines and vehicles combinations. The J family range currently includes 9 gearboxes in production, offering over 70 engine/vehicle combinations for the Renault Group alone.
technical performance, with a highly competitive torque/mass ratio.
a recognized economic competitiveness
major developments over time that have anticipated or kept pace with advances in the automotive world.
Quality results on gearshifts and reliability
These garboxes are developed according to the country of use. For example, short ratios are more suited to mountainous countries and longer ratios to flat countries. Technically speaking, these changes are made by creating more gearing possibilities for drive shafts and axle ring gears. This diversity means that the offer can be adapted for all world countries and their driving conditions.
