Renault has been working with the Cannes Film Festival for 25 years. Renault vehicles have long featured in films and TV shows, from the R8 Gordini to Mégane Coupé Cabriolet via Espace. The relationship between Renault and the world of cinema has resulted in some legendary moments in film.
Renault’s 100 year long film career
Renault has enjoyed a passionate relationship with cinema for over 100 years.
The first film studios were opened in 1895 in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Louis Renault appeared on film as early as 1899, at the wheel of his first vehicle, created one year earlier. Renault was one of the first manufacturers to use the promotional possibilities of cinema.
Louis Renault lent several models from his private collection to film productions.
Cars have become an essential part of our everyday lives and thus unavoidable on screen. Renault vehicles took part in 21 feature films and 170 TV films and series in 2007.
